Olympus OMD EM-10 - Why no built-in GPS?

What's with the trend to using a smartphone for GPS?

Like the Fuji X-T1 there's no built-in GPS in the Olympus OM-D EM-10?!? Instead it uses the "kludgy GPS via smartphone" aaargh! Which is no help when your smartphone battery is dead or you don't have your phone. 21st century cams require real sensors !!!

FUJIFILM X-T1 - Why is there no real GPS? (using your phone for GPS doesn't cut it).

The Fuji X-T1 is. so. close. Love the water sealing and the WiFi.

But:

NX30 built-in flickr + dropbox = awesome but GPS optional not so awesome

NX30 awesome (built-in auto-upload flickr & dropbox in some regions) except why is GPS optional

The Samsung NX30. is. so. close.

But:

  1. Why is GPS optional?
  2. Why isn't flickr and dropbox support worldwide (probably some bogus legal issue)?
  3. Conclusion: I'll never understand camera product managers :-)

Why?

  2. WiFi
  3. auto-upload with ShoZu to flickr, your blog via the MetaWeblog API, TypePad, Blogger, etc and other popular social networks of the day! (This was 2005!)

We are finally getting back to 2005 :-) in 2013 with flickr client auto-uploading and Google+ uploading but just barely since neither flickr . . .
