Note5 hangs in the lockscreen
hoping this will be fixed in a firmware update
The Note5 hangs every few days in the lock screen which means I can't take photos. Why? Odd ! Can't figure out a pattern on how to reproduce nor how to workaround the problem. Never seen anything like it in the many Nokia and Apple cameraphones I've used over the years. Other than that and the focus hunting it's a great . . .

Computational Photography is coming
everybody's overestimating in the short term and in the long term underestimating
The Light L16 is one of the harbingers (its awkwardness reminds me of Symbian cameraphones or the early point and shoots). Some great, provocative thoughts on computational photography can be found on photothunk.
Note5 auto-focus hunting sample image
happens much more often on the Note vs. iPhone 6
Here's a sample Note 5 blurry image that I wrote about in the last post :

The Note5 like the S6Edge auto-focus hunts unlike the iPhone6 plus
Never seen this level of auto-focus "hunting" on Nokia or Apple cameraphones! Perhaps it's a chipset thing? Does the G4 or the Sony Z3/Z4 hunt in this way?
iPhone6plus versus Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
There should no contest right?
But somehow the iPhone6 plus has much more consistent auto-focus and colours. Why? Good question. If you know why please tell Samsung thanks bye :-) !
Nikon 1 V2 - Three weeks in France test
surprisingly good except for the GPS taking too much power and making the form factor a bit awkward
Not surprising actually that the Nikon 1 V2 was fun while in Paris for 3 weeks. Just wish Nikon could build the GPS into the camera and improve its power consumption. Not having to worry about the awkward GPS apps (like the ones from Fuji and Olympus) meant foot lose and fancy free once the GPS locked on! A V4 with everything built . . .
Fujifilm Cam Remote works better with iOS than Android
isn't Android's "true" multi-tasking supposed to be better?
The iPhone6 plus pairs very quickly with Fuji's Cam Remote. The S6 Edge didn't; it was noticeably slower and more awkward. Samsung's fault? Android's fault? Who knows but it just goes to show you that theory is different from practice!
